What the skin checker actually does
You submit a photo and optional notes. An AI model estimates visible skin characteristics — things like apparent hydration, texture, tone evenness and visible congestion — and drafts a suggested cosmetic formula and routine for a compounding pharmacist to consider.
- Scores are relative estimates read from one image, not clinical measurements.
- The estimated Fitzpatrick type is an approximation from a photo and can be wrong.
- Suggested actives and strengths are a starting draft, not a dispensing instruction.
- A licensed clinician reviews any compound before it is prepared or supplied.
What it cannot do
AI image analysis cannot detect, rule out, or grade any medical condition. It cannot see below the skin surface, and lighting, camera quality, makeup and angle all change the result. Two photos of the same face can produce different scores.
Never use a skin report to delay, avoid, or replace advice from a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist. Do not stop or start a prescribed medicine based on a report.
See a clinician promptly if you notice
- A mole or lesion that changes in size, shape, colour or bleeds.
- A sore, rash or patch that does not heal within a few weeks.
- Painful, spreading, hot or weeping skin, or signs of infection.
- Sudden severe reaction, swelling or difficulty breathing after any product — seek emergency care.
If a report shows a clinician flag, treat it as a prompt to book a professional review — not as a finding in itself.
Patch testing and sensitivity
Any new active can irritate. Patch test on a small area for 24 hours before applying to the face, introduce one product at a time, and stop use if you react. Tell us in the notes field about allergies, pregnancy, breastfeeding, prescription actives or recent procedures — the report is only as good as the context you give it.
Age and eligibility
The skin checker is intended for people aged 18 and over, analysing their own skin. Do not upload photos of other people without their permission, and do not upload photos of children.
